Alesia Schumann vs. Masae – Round 3

DING!

Lee: “BOX!”

Round 3 starts more slowly. The two boxers engage in occasional skirmishes. They try to outsmart each other and Alesia is ready to waste the two full minutes if necessary.

Ally thinks: “I’ll wait for my chance. You come to me!”

Forced to initiate the action, Masae is does it more reluctantly.

Masae thinks: “She really wants to counter me. I can smell it.”

Then the Japanese surges forward with a fast jab on target, followed by glancing right hand. More confident, she follows it up with a left hook.

That’s when Alesia gets going. The Diva slips under it and lands a solid right to the Japanese’s solar plexus.

Masae: “Oomph!”

Esther: “Schumann is boxing intelligently. “Scoring with a powerful right hand to the body, as explained by her coach. In the worst case, body shots help you win fights by slowing opponents down. You can’t go wrong when you’re right… right?”

Alesia landed her first body shot, a big right hand, and confidence is back!

The German Diva goes for the most difficult move but the one that could pay off big time. She twists her left leg and comes back up to launch a left hook that collides hard with Masae’s jaw. The powerful blow pushes her upper body back as she absorbs the force.

Esther: “The Alesia Schumann that we all know and love is back with a vengeance! She landed an intercontinental ballistic missile of a left hook on Masae to follow up on the body shot, and it hurt her badly. Who wants to be on the receiving end of that? Anyone?”

Hurt to the head by a huge left hook, Masae stumbles and backs up until she is near the ropes. She needs time and space.

Backing up only delays Alesia’s aggression by a few seconds, though. The Diva knows that her opponent is hurt and she has no intention to let her get away.

Masae covers her head properly, but this leaves the body open. Ally gets in position and swings with a left to the midsection. The gloves sinks in, unopposed.

Esther: “Schumann bites like a shark and there is blood in the water! Someone is regretting her comments at the press conference…”

Masae clinched Alesia in the ropes after taking a big left hand to the midsection. She tries to collect herself and go through this round.

The Japanese dances around the ring and throws quick straight hands to keep the Diva at bay. It only works for so long: when the woman in green sends a jab her way near the ropes, Ally moves slightly to the left and digs in with a right to the midsection. It lands on target, diminishing Masae’s strength and air supplies.

Esther: “They say that body shots are money in the bank and Schumann is making huge deposits in this round. This pounding will generate compounded interest.”

Masae is having a Round 3 from hell, taking severe punishment at the hands of Alesia. She tries to resist but the blonde is unforgiving.

The Diva lands a few shots here and there but nothing major for about 20 seconds. Then she decides to go for the big shot. She fakes the left hook with just shoulder movement. The Japanese wants to go under it, but it’s the wrong guess. Ally makes her uppercut motion and releases her signature punch, which whacks her opponent’s jaw. Hard.

In the red corner, Yumi has a moment of panic.

Esther: “The student has turned into teacher. Schumann is taking Masae to school with her movement, speed and power game. This cannot end well for the outclassed Japanese woman.”

Ding! The bell ends Round 3 and we go straight to Masae’s corner.

Yumi: “Sweetheart… if you can’t turn this around quickly, we’ll have to stop the fight. She’s hitting you too hard”.

Masae: “I’ll do my best! Just give me some time.”

The referee and doctor come to the red corner and they are concerned.

Doc: “This is getting dangerous. Further head punches could give her a concussion. More body shots could cause serious internal bleeding. My advice is that if she takes more of these, Lee should stop the fight.”

Yumi: “I understand.”

Lee: “I agree. I’ll allow it to continue for the time being, but if Masae can’t defend herself in the next 30 seconds, I’m ending it. No one wants to see her injured.”

Once the ref and doc go away, the coach gets to work to treat her fighter.

Yumi: “You heard it all. You have to make a stand now!”

Masae: “Yes.”

On to the blue corner.

Regina: “I hear them talking about stopping the fight. It means that if she comes out of that corner, she’ll try to hit you with bombs. It also means that if we want a knockout, we have to do it quickly or they’ll stop the fight beforehand.”

Alesia: “I want that knockout!”

Regina: “Then hit hard and fast. Make this one a KO for the highlight reels.”

Alesia: “Count on it!”

Regina gives Alesia water, puts vaseline on her face and gives her the mouthpiece back.

Three rounds of action are already gone. Esther Schouten has something to say about the fight so far.

Esther: “Schumann may have endured a tough first round, but she took the lead with two strong rounds with excellent boxing and hard-hitting punches. She is now deservedly ahead and Masae needs a small miracle to overcome the tank that’s been bombarding her. Either she lands a lucky punch or she’ll get decimated.”
