Alesia Schumann vs. Akane Watanabe II – prematch

Alesia Schumann’s 8th professional fight is coming in October as a part of a two-fight deal in Tokyo. Today, the fight with Akane Watanabe is announced with the publication of the above poster and a press release.

The news release:

Winning Japan and Paffen Sport are pleased to bring you an exciting rematch between Alesia Schumann and Akane Watanabe in what promises to be an action-packed bout: 10 rounds of boxing as the main event of our second Fight Night East vs. West.

Fighting out of Munich, Schumann is making a name for herself in boxing circles. She defeated Masae by knockout last month.

“We are excited to be here for this bout, said Regina Halmich, who coaches Schumann. A rematch with Akane was always on our radar and we are glad to be here and make it happen.”

Naomi Watanabe, who coaches her younger sister, promises redemption. “Akane lost in unfair conditions in Hamburg and it’s time to level the score. She deserved a win on the first attempt and she will get it on the second.”

The fight will take place at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

Press conference

The press conference for the rematch between Alesia Schumann and Akane Watanabe will start in a few minutes.

Ally and Regina met near the press conference room before.

Regina: “Ready to deliver your lines?”

Alesia snickers: “Oh yes!”

Regina: “Hey, since when are you wearing makeup?”

Alesia: “Says the one who’s wearing LIPSTICK during training sessions!”

Regina: “Ah shut up!”

Alesia: lol!

Both camps sit on their chairs on stage and the press conference can start.

Announcer: “Welcome to the press conference for what will be an exciting fight at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo in October. Two excellent boxers will be facing each other in the main event of a Fight Night featuring East against West, presented by Winning Japan and Paffen Sport. First, let’s introduce the host. Akane “Little Storm” Watanabe is a force to reckon with. Her record stands at 6 wins, 4 of them by knockout, 1 loss, no draw.”

Akane: “I’m so glad that Alesia is finally granting me a rematch and coming to Japan after avoiding me for months. When we fought in Germany, I knocked her out but the ref’s long count and a lucky punch saved her. There will be no such thing this time.”

Announcer: “For her part, Alesia Schumann is one of Germany’s most promising talents. She previously held the WBC Silver title in the Super Lightweight division, has won 5 fights by knockouts and had 3 defeats. The Diva recently knocked Masae out.”

Alesia: “The main reason why I came here is to show that Akane is right. While I will do my best, she is superior and she will give me a painful beating. All you will see will be humility when I look up to her from the canvas. This fight is about justice.”

Akane looks at Alesia and she’s puzzled by the talk. Regina stays silent but she has to contain laughter. A Japanese reporter whispers to a colleague: “She’s playing mind games.”

Question period

Japanese reporter: “Do you think that you can perform as well as you did against Alesia in Hamburg? She beat tough fighters, she gave Lilly Sanchez a lot of trouble and her defensive game has improved.”

Akane: “I will punish her again. In fair conditions, without a referee who is friendly to her, I know I will win.”

Japanese reporter: “Alesia, what do you say to that?”

Alesia: “She’ll bruise and cut me up. All I ask for is that the referee doesn’t stop it. Akane needs to finish the job herself.”

Akane thinks: “WTF?”

German reporter: “Alesia, obviously you’re doing reverse psychology here and…”

Alesia interrupts: “No, I’m just keeping it real. She’s too quick and too strong for me. Didn’t you see it the first time?”

Silence across the room. Akane is the most baffled among them all. She makes a face that means: aren’t you supposed to say that you’ll win this?

Announcer: “Thank you for coming here everyone! See you at ringside.”
