Virani MacVicar vs. Jennifer Patrick – Round 2

Laila: “Well one of the things that Jennifer Parker needed to do to rebound after that one-sided first round is to land a solid punch or two to get Virani’s respect. The first round MacVicar walked all over her, but if Jennifer can land power punches she can make Virani take notice. That left hook landed by Parker is the first step back into this fight.”

Virani: Hmm. I wanted to go to the body this round to take the fight out of her, but I think I’ve got to be a bit more careful. Jennifer hits as hard as a housecat, but I don’t want to absorb punches just for the hell of it.

Thomas: “Get your head in the game, V!” I know this chick isn’t on your level, but she has to stay focused, Cobra.

Virani v. Jennifer 11

Laila: “MacVicar is targeting the body of Patrick early on this this round and though Jennifer was able to tag Virani on a counter early on, she will not be denied as she lands a good left hand to the body of Patrick. Jennifer does look a little less defined around the midsection than Viarni does, and that may be the impetus behind the Canadian looking to the body. I like this from MacVicar. She proved she could land to the head in the 1st, now she is proving she can land to the body. A varied punching attack is always harder to defend.”

Virani: I’m going to tenderize this girl to the body. I got her thinking about punching to the head, and now I’m going to hurt her to the body. Jennifer stands way too upright, so when I can get below her jab, her entire body is open for me to target. It’s like going to a buffet. Everything looks good. The best part is when my fist collides with her midsection, I can feel it give just a little. She’s not enjoying taking this punches.

Thomas: “That’s better, V!”

Watching at home:

Emma: “I’m liking how this is going.”

Anita: “Me too.”

Virani v. Jennifer 12

Laila: “Along with targeting the body, MacVicar has shown that she has no problems jabbing with the longer, taller Patrick. It’s not an easy thing to do, but Virani is showing how it is done. Cobras aren’t supposed to evolve, but maybe the Canadian variant does.”

Virani: If this girl wants to try to win the fight off of her jab and her reach, I’m going to take that weapon away from her. She might be taller, but I’m faster than she is and my jabs can land accurately too. Yes, I’m in her range, but it doesn’t really worry me. By making Jennifer afraid to throw her jab, I can make her an easier, more passive target for later.

Thomas: Virani’s always been something of a brawler that has learned how to box. Now she really seems comfortable to use the sweet science to unlock her opponent. She’s still a puncher at heart, but now she’s comfortable in using her boxing skills to open up the opportunities to throw those power punches.

Virani v. Jennifer 13 - Alternative Angles

Laila: “And now MacVicar scores with an uppercut! Not one of the Canadian’s most used punches, but that will rattle the jaw of Jennifer. Virani is able to neatly slip to either side to give her angles to punch from and its really confounding and confusing Jennifer, who doesn’t quite seem to know how to react. If she tries to punch her way out, she’ll end up getting into an exchange with MacVicar, and that’s a good way for her to end up on the canvas and wondering what the heck just dropped her. This fight is being fought at Virani’s preferred range and at her preferred tempo.”

Virani: Jennifer is keeping her guard high and tight, so there are two ways to deal with that. One is to go to the body, which is nice, but the other is to go with the uppercut. I tease with a few jabs and Jennifer reacts passively, so I go with the aggressive option, sliding to my right and throwing an uppercut right down main street. Jennifer tucks her elbow to protect her side, but I’m not throwing to the body, it’s going up…and my punch jolts her head upwards for a moment. Good punch.

At ringside:

Emma: “Damn, if that was Alesia, Jennifer’s head would be in the 5th row.”

Anita: “Give her time. She’s not Tyson.”

Virani v. Jennifer 14

Virani v. Jennifer 14 - Alternative Angles

Laila: “Oof, a snappy jab from Virani which slices through Jennifer’s guard. Jennifer has no answers, and Virani is seemingly just about toying with her prey. A jab here, a punch to the body there. What was expected to be at least a competitive match has simply been one way traffic. One has to wonder how long Jennifer can even take it, remember she has been stopped once in her career already.”

Virani: This is fun. Jennifer’s punch output is dropping off because every time she throws a punch I seem to be able to hit her with one in return. There’s something satisfying in watching the fight, the self-belief drain from your opponent’s eyes. This chick would be smart to just take a punch and then take a knee. Get out of this place with all your faculties in tact and a little bit of your reputation left. Cause this is only going to get worse for you, Jennifer. I am not a patient woman.

Thomas: Virani can do anything she wants to this girl. It ain’t going to be pretty.

Virani v. Jennifer 15

Laila: “Credit to Jennifer Patrick, she is trying to hang in there, but as she tries to load up for a big left hook, Virani is already getting there with a crisp, punishing right hand. That one distorted Jennifer’s face quite badly, though Jennifer hasn’t really been wobbled or even hurt so far in the fight. That might only be a matter of time though.”

Virani: I have to give Jennifer credit, she tried to load up on a big haymarker of a left hook after I slipped to my right, but I was too fast for her. My right hand lands really darn flush, but Jennifer doesn’t seem that hurt. Big girl’s got a chin on her. That’s a nice attribute too have.

Victoria thinks: Jennifer is fighting back, but how long do I give a girl that is clearly being outclassed?

Watching from home:

Emma: “That girl’s face is going to be permanently changed after this fight. Virani is giving out a free makeover.”

Anita: “Virani’s got good fashion sense. It might end up being an improvement.”

Emma: “…”

Virani v. Jennifer 16

Virani v. Jennifer 16 - Alternative Angles

Lalia: “MacVicar looks increasingly confident as she has dominated this round quite easily. She is even starting to throw Jennifer different looks as she drops into a quasi Philly Shell stance, which seems to invite Jennifer to try to engage. The fact that Jennifer is keeping a high guard and slinking back towards the ropes. It looks like mental domination from the Canadian, who is doing whatever she wants to Jennifer, and the American doesn’t seem to have the ability to disrupt the Cobra in any meaningful way. This fight may not go much longer at this rate.”

Virani: This girl has absolutely nothing for me, so I as herd her towards the ropes yet again, I drop my left arm down in sort of a philly shell sort of look. I want to see how she reacts to that. If Jennifer has anything left, she’ll try to take advantage. Or do something I drop my arm down and raise my shoulder, and Jennifer responds by shelling up for a moment. Okay. This girl is done, mentally. My head is right there to get hit and she goes defensive. Yeah, okay, it’s time to work towards a finish.

Thomas: You can tell when Virani is feeling confident when she changes out of her usual stance. This is Virani trying to take stock of her opponent, and I think she has found her wanting. I glance across to the other corner. Do they know what is about to happen? I do.

Virani v. Jennifer 17

Laila: “MacVicar has ‘The Bull’ on the ropes, and much like a matador, she is picking her spot to close the show. She starts with a dagger-like jab to the midsection of Patrick, which buckles the knees of the American for a moment before going upstairs with a wicked and unorthodox right hook! Oh my, that was not a combination you will see in any boxing manual, but Jennifer Patrick will testify to its effectiveness. Let’s see if MacVicar can close the show with ten seconds remaining in the round, you know that the referee will be watching intently…”

Virani: I feel like I’m in the Matrix. I’m just throwing whatever I want and its working out

Thomas: When Virani starts going Roy Jones Jr. on her opponent, that’s when you know that she is in a good place, and her opponent is in a bad one.

Virani v. Jennifer 18

Laila: “Virani MacVicar has Jennifer against the ropes, and she seems fairly content to fire away as Jennifer turtles up. The Bull is up against, it, but Virani has not managed to find the one punch that would make the referee intervene. It’s the one negative thing I can say against Virani in this fight – for someone known for a good killer instinct, she hasn’t quite been able to summon it here as the bell rings to end the 2nd round.”

Virani: I don’t know if its because Jennifer feels like she’s fighting for her life, but she is suddenly hard to hit along the ropes, I try for a quick left hook, but her random bobbing and weaving makes it hard to land anything flush before the bell rings. It’s a round in the books, but I feel like I could have ended it. Maybe I should have went back to the body, and stop looking for the highlight reel stuff.

Thomas: Surprising misfire from Virani, I would have thought she’d manage to put Jennifer down before the round was up.

Victoria thinks: If that had landed, I probably would have stopped the fight. I can give Jennifer a little more time, I think.

Virani v. Jennifer 19

Laila: “Another round in the books in this one, and the 2nd round was a replay of the 1st round. Jennifer had a few periods of success, but even when she did land, she didn’t trouble Virani, who went right back at her with authority. It’s smooth sailing for the Canadian Cobra, who has really shown her class in this bout. Unless there is a bottle of ‘The Secret Stuff’ in Jennifer Patrick’s corner, this one seems to be over shortly, whether it will be via knockdown or via referee stoppage.”

Virani: This feels great. I’m just crushing this chick.

Thomas: I take Virani’s mouthpiece out and give her water. V looks like she just entered the ring, there’s almost no damage to her face anywhere, maybe just the slightest hint of puffiness. A literal stroll in the park so far.

Virani: “What else can I do, Tom?”

Thomas: “Nothing. Keep your head attached to your shoulders. Desperate fighters can be dangerous.”

Virani: “She doesn’t have the mentality to go out in a blaze of glory.”

Thomas: “I agree, but there’s no point in taking chances. This round, sit down on your punches and aim to hurt. A couple of good shots and the referee will step in. That’s all you need to do.”

Virani: “Okay boss.”
