Emma rides Her momentum

After dropping Thea in the last round, Emma very much wants to feel how much she has recovered. Feeling confident, Emma get in close right from the start, and becomes a bit of a bully.

Emma spends the first minute of the round ascendant and as she pushes against Thea, she gets a thought about her opponent’s strength at the moment.

Emma thinks: She feels weak. I want to go for this. Right now.

Being quite unsubtle, Emma uses her upper body strength to push Thea backwards from the middle of the ring and towards the ropes. Taken aback by this direct approach, Thea stumbles back and almost falls into the ropes. Referee Victoria James isn’t going to let that happen, intervening and stopping Emma for the moment.

Victoria: “Hey! No pushing. Emma, back it up!”

While Victoria pushes Emma back, the Greek-American fighter reels as she picks herself off the ropes. Even though Emma hasn’t landed a punch, one fighter is clearly on the back foot.

As soon as the fight resumes, Emma goes right off Thea. It’s not exactly subtle boxing, but the pressure is felt. Thea is still a bit stunned from the last round and she’s not getting a good start either.

Thea thinks: Fuck it, I’ve got to get this chick’s respect with punches.

Being forced to dig deep, Thea produces one of her best moments of the fight, leaning back into the ropes, granting her space to avoid a left hook from Emma, while also driving home a crisp uppercut that catches Emma flush on the cheek and chin.

Laila: “Karras is under pressure, but she is not melting yet. Perhaps Karras is being forged in the fire here.”

Despite taking a firm punch from Thea, Emma isn’t remotely phased. She has Thea where she wants her and like a predator clamping its jaws on its prey, she’s not ready to let go.

The two fighters trade a bit in the ropes, despite the pleas of Thea’s coach. Both of them have their moments, but Emma’s shots are heavier for more of an impact. Then, the breakthrough occurs, Emma snaps a short, clean right hook through Thea’s guard. Red glove meets Thea’s chin in a powerful collision.

PAFF!

Thea’s head is jerked backwards as Emma hits the sweet spot of the chin of her opponent.

Laila: “A big shot there from McGale! She’s Peached many fighters before Karras while on the ropes, could we see her add to this number shortly?”

Emma goes hunting

Thea’s legs go weak. It’s emergency station now. Taking that punch on the chin has caused her to lose coordination and strength.

The undefeated mega prospect slides along the ropes while Emma now has free reign to fire away. She fears nothing at this point and she shows it, throwing loaded punches with ill-intent behind them. There’s nothing Thea can do but try to avoid the incoming shots. She’s too weak and disorientated to fight back in any organized way.

Still, Thea’s bobbing and weaving keep her safe for a time.

Emma shepherds Thea towards the corner. As the Greek-American fighter tries to hold on, Emma simply shrugs her off. The Peach isn’t going to let her off the hook when she is hurt.

Thea tries to remain elusive, but in the corner, there’s much less room to maneuver. Emma first connects with a piercing left hand, and then she plants her feet to throw a massive overhand right. Thea’s not prepared and Emma’s right hand meets the undefeated fighter’s temple, as the power of the peach causes her head to be swung hard to the side.

Laila: “Another big shot from McGale! Karras has been under siege – how much more can she take?”

Struck flush on the temple, Emma’s punch puts Thea in ‘sleep’ mode. Her legs lose strength instantly and she collapses awkwardly to the canvas for a fall through Emma’s legs, with her arms barely able to break her fall.

Laila: “Karras has crashed! She slumped hard to the canvas and it seems like her operating system might have shut down. Perhaps an IT professional can reboot her, but it may not be possible to do so before the count of 10. Thea should have paid for the extended warrantee, perhaps.”

Emma thinks: “I told Sandra you were done, and now you are.”

Referee Victoria James was not far away from the action and she steps in quickly.

Victoria: “Emma, neutral corner, now!”

Not feeling much urgency, Emma steps over Thea and makes her way to the neutral corner at a leisurely pace. As she walks to the neutral corner, she spreads her arms wide, a large smile adorning her face.

On the canvas, Thea is moving, trying to determine how she ended up face down on the canvas.

Laila: “McGale seems to fight this fight is over! Thea does seem to be awake, but it will be tough to her to get off the canvas after going down like that.”

Once Emma is in the neutral corner, Victoria kneels in front of Thea and starts the count.

Victoria: “1… 2… 3… 4… 5…”

Thea does seem to be aware of the count progressing and she’s gotten onto her elbows. However, she’s still prone on the canvas halfway through.

In the neutral corner, Emma is already into celebration mode, barely paying attention to the count and waving to the crowd with an upraised arm.

Laila: “McGale is confident that this one is over! Can Karras get herself of the canvas to prove her wrong?”

Victoria: “6… 7… 8… 9… 10! She’s out!”

Dazed and weak, all Thea is able to do before the count reaches 10 is to get onto her elbows and knees. There’s no strength or coordination that would allow her to get to her feet. Not in her current state. She’s too weak to continue.

Emma jumps onto the bottom rope and flexes, her usual pose for celebrating a knockout victory.

Sandra thinks: World title fight, here we come. Don’t bet against my Emma.

Laila: “The count has reached 10! Thea Karras could not rise on time. Another impressive knockout win for McGale, her fifth consecutive one, and none more impressive than this demolition of the previously unbeaten Karras. A title shot against Yenifer Perez beckons.”

Emma thinks: 12-0 top challenger and I dismantled her. I can do this to anyone that I face off against. I will do this to anyone they put in front of me.
